Homework Packets went home today.  This week in Language Arts were are learning to read and spell words with "oi" and "oy".  In Math, we are learning about shapes and their attributes.

Homework Packets went home today.  This week in Language Arts were are learning to read and spell words with "ar".  In Math, we are telling time.  The students are really getting the hang of telling time to the hour and the half hour.

Happy New Year Everyone, 
I trust everyone had a happy and safe holiday.  I was so happy to see the students this morning.  We had a great day in Room 12 today.  Everyone came back happy and ready to learn!
 
Homework packets went home today.  This week we are learning to read, write and spell words with long o spelled o_e, long e spelled  e_e and long u spelled u_e.  We will be working on place value in Math.  
 
Spelling words:  

wake, note, nose, joke, cute, cube, new, old, chop, whale (before the break, I introduced Challenge words to the children.  The students may take these on the test for extra credit.)   Challenge Words:  close, spoke

Hello Everyone,
As usual homework packets went home today, and are due on Friday.  This week's packet looks a little bit different.  We are reviewing this week in language arts, so there is no Spelling this week.  I sent home two sight word lists.  One from Unit 1 and one from Unit 2.  We have not finished Unit 2, so we have not learned all the words yet.  The bottom of the homework packet indicates where we have left off.  
 
The little story this week, is not one that we have read before.  There are a few challenging words that the students may not know yet.  I am hoping that by the end of the week, they will be able to read it fluently!  
 
We are doing our normal chapters in Math this week.  We are finishing up Chapter 3 which is addition concepts.  Below are the video links.

Parents, I just noticed that there is a mistake on the homework sheet.  We are doing lessons 3.1, 3.2, 3.3 and 3.4 in math this week!!
 
These week in first grade we are working on reading, writing and spelling words with short o.  In math, we are working on addition again.
